Awqaf SA is com
mitted to funding health projects. It is already funding cataract operations on a regular basis in partnership with the Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA), and sponsored the health tent at the Bosmont Pre Ramadaan Fete durting 2013.
Awqaf SA has again teamed up with (IMASA) to provide frailcare services to the community. A number of volunteers were sponsored for training at St Johns as Frailcare givers as well as wheel chairs, hospital bed and other medical equipment. The equipment will be housed at the IMA offices in Auckland Park, Johannesburg and will be available for hire at a nominal cost.
A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between each of the volunteers, IMASA, and Awqaf SA in terms of which the volunteers have undertaken to provide 16 hours of service free of charge per 4 week cycle for a minimum per annum. The service will primarily be home based – in the comfort of the patients own own home environment and family support.
Anybody who wishes to contribute by way of waqf/ sadaqah jariyyah may contact Awqaf SA (info@archive.limelightbuilds.com or awqafsa.org.za)
In a letter to Awqaf SA, Dr Nazreen Motara, the coordinator of the project wrote:
On behalf of the Islamic Medical Association (Johannesburg Branch ) we would like to thank you for your generous sponsorship towards the training of frail care volunteers as part of the IMASA /AWQAF Frail Care Project.
Volunteers who were sponsored have committed to performing a minimum amount of 4 hours per week of voluntary service to provide this much needed care to the elderly and frail in our society.
Our sincere thanks to AWQAF-SA too for their generous donation and sponsorship of medical equipment that will be available to the community for use.
May Allah reward you for your generosity and may you receive ongoing rewards for the work that will be carried out by these volunteers.
Jazakallah
