What are Eternal Cards?

This is the most innovative way of sharing with your friends and  near and dear ones.
Eternal Cards is proud to announce a partnership with Awqaf SA. The partnership brings together two organisations focused on encouraging and facilitating Sadaqah Jaariyah within our communities.
Thawaab Jaariyah is a beautiful blessing which we have been given as Muslims.  When Muslims donate Waqf / Sadaqah Jaariyah, we are contributing towards a cause which has ongoing benefits, and therefore,  we gain ongoing thawaab.  Examples of such causes are planting trees which provide fruit and shade, digging wells which provide water for communities, or building masaajid where people can pray, or providing education for an orphan, or contributing to needs  in Al Quds/Palestine.
There are many causes one can contribute towards. Each card has been designed to make a waqf/ sadaqah jariyah gift for a special purpose or cause.
The Eternal Cards concept is that instead of buying yet another trinket as an Eid gift, you donate as a Waqf / Sadaqah Jaariyah cause in the name of the person  to whom you are giving a gift to. You then give that person a card, explaining what amazing cause they will gain Thawaab Jaariyah for.

Support an Orphan Card

The proceeds from the orphan cards will be invested into Awqaf SA’s orphan waqf fund, which supports an orphanage in Unitas Park, Vereeniging. The waqf assists with the food, clothing and educational needs of these orphans.

Plant a Tree Card

The Billion Tree campaign was launched in 2010, and is supported by the United Nations Environment Programme.   Grow-a-Tree is South African organisation which is helping this movement with their Million Tree goal.  When you purchase this card, a tree will be planted on your behalf in a community area, logged on the million tree campaign count, and a CerTREEficate will be emailed to you on behalf of Grow-a-Tree.  For more information on this project, visit http://www.growatree.co.za

Build a Masjid Card

The 5 daily prayers are amongst the most important of all actions for Muslims.  Contributing towards the building of a masjid is one of the best forms of charity we can give, as it allows a community the opportunity to pray, to unite and to spread Islam in an area.  The money from the sale of these cards will be invested into Awqaf SA’s masjid and madrassah waqf fund.

Awqaf SA is currently involved with construction and upgrades to masaajid in Hillbrow, Sharpeville, Finetown, Cape Town and Malawi, and the proceeds from the waqf will be used for these projects Insha’Allah.

Water Well Card

The money collected from water well cards will be invested into Awqaf SA’s food, trees and water waqf fund. The proceeds from this waqf will be used to build wells in Limpopo, Eastern Cape and Western Cape, South Africa in 2017.  The country has been hard hit by drought over the past two years, and many communities are in desperate need of water.

Awqaf SA is an independent community-based and owned trust, dedicated to the establishment of the institution of Waqf and the empowerment of communities. Awqaf invests endowment funds and spends only the income generated from investments to fund a variety of community development projects and programmes. Awqaf SA describes a Waqf as a voluntary, permanent, irrevocable dedication of a portion of ones wealth – in cash or kind – to Allah. Once a Waqf, it never gets gifted, inherited, or sold. It belongs to Allah and the corpus of the Waqf always remains intact. The fruits of the Waqf may be utilised for any shari’ah compliant purpose.

By investing donations for Eternal Cards into a Waqf, rather than using them for a once-off cause, the sawaab of the Eternal Card recipient will Insha’Allah, be multiplied.
